Florale flower earrings are flower-shaped stud earrings: a round 1-carat stone per earring (6.5 mm), i.e. 2 carats per pair, held by petals set with small stones. Five flowers to choose from: Tulip, Lily, Royal Rose, Lotus and Hyacinth. The center stone is a D-color, VVS1-clarity moissanite, or a lab-grown diamond with D to F color and VS to VVS clarity. In the moissanite version, the small stones are cubic zirconia. In the diamond version, they are lab-grown diamonds too. All five flowers come in solid 9k, 14k or 18k gold (white, yellow or rose gold), made to order. In 925 silver, two flowers are available: the Tulip, rhodium-plated or yellow gold plated, and the Royal Rose, rhodium-plated. Sold as a pair and delivered in a gift box, with a GRA certificate for moissanites or an IGI certificate for diamonds.

Which flower should you choose?

All five flowers have the same 1-carat center stone. Only the setting changes, and with it the style of the earring.

Flower The setting The style
Tulip Tapered petals that wrap around the stone, each set with a line of small stones Clean and elegant, for every day
Lily Petals opening like a crown, set with small stones right to the heart of the flower Delicate and romantic
Royal Rose Rounded, overlapping petals edged with small stones The most feminine, very luminous
Lotus A halo of small stones all around the center stone The most sparkle: the stone looks bigger
Hyacinth A columned crown, paved with small stones on each side Architectural and bold

Moissanite or lab-grown diamond?

Both stones are created in a laboratory, without mining, and have the white sparkle of a fine diamond to the naked eye. They are nevertheless two different stones. In the diamond version, all the stones of the earring are lab-grown diamonds, the center stone as well as the small stones on the petals.

  • Moissanite: silicon carbide, a gemstone in its own right. More refractive than diamond (index of about 2.65 versus 2.42), it returns more fire, those very lively rainbow flashes. Hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale. The most affordable choice.
  • Lab-grown diamond (created in a laboratory): pure carbon, like a mined diamond, with the same composition, the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale, the highest) and the same sparkle. Only its origin is different: it is created in a laboratory in a few weeks. Its sparkle is whiter and more understated than that of moissanite. The choice for those who want a real diamond.

Care

  • Take your earrings off before showering, swimming (pool or sea), sport and sleep, and apply perfume and creams before putting them on.
  • Clean them with warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush, paying attention to the areas between the petals and under the stone, then dry them with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive products, which would wear the plating of the silver version. Solid gold can be repolished by a jeweler.
  • Store them in their box with the backs on, away from moisture.
  • Both moissanite and diamond resist everyday scratches and do not lose their sparkle over time: simple cleaning brings back all their brilliance.

Frequently asked questions

Is moissanite a diamond?

No. Moissanite is a gemstone in its own right, different from diamond: it is silicon carbide, whereas diamond is pure carbon. Discovered in 1893 by the French chemist Henri Moissan in a meteorite, it is now created in a laboratory. It is more refractive than diamond (refractive index of about 2.65 versus 2.42) and disperses about 2.4 times more light into colors, which gives it its very lively rainbow flashes. With a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond), it is one of the toughest gemstones, ideal for jewelry worn every day.

Is a lab-grown diamond a real diamond?

Yes. A lab-grown diamond (created in a laboratory) is a diamond: crystallized pure carbon, with the same physical, chemical and optical properties as a mined diamond. A jeweler cannot tell them apart with the naked eye or with a loupe. Only laboratory equipment can identify its origin.

In the diamond version, are the small stones diamonds too?

Yes. All the stones of the earring are lab-grown diamonds: the 1-carat center stone and each of the small stones set on the petals or as a halo. In the moissanite version, the center stone is a moissanite and the small stones are cubic zirconia.

Are the stones certified?

Yes. Moissanites come with a GRA certificate stating the D color, VVS1 clarity and cut quality. The 1-carat lab-grown diamonds (the center stones) come with an IGI certificate, which states their weight, color, clarity and laboratory origin.

Are the gold Florale earrings solid gold?

Yes. The gold version is solid 9k, 14k or 18k gold throughout (setting, petals, post and backs), not plated silver or brass. It is made to order in the flower, stone and gold color (white, yellow or rose) you choose, then delivered in 2 to 3 weeks.

Can I wear them if I have sensitive ears?

Yes, in most cases. In solid gold, the post and setting are entirely gold. The higher the karat, the higher the share of gold (75% in 18k), and the better it is tolerated by very sensitive ears. In 925 silver, they are nickel-free and lead-free and protected by rhodium or gold plating, finishes that are well tolerated by sensitive skin. Take them off at night and clean the post regularly for optimal comfort.

How are they different from the Double Éclat studs?

Double Éclat earrings are solitaire studs: a single stone held by 4 prongs, from 0.2 to 8 carats per pair, in brilliant or Portuguese cut. Florale earrings have a 1-carat center stone surrounded by a flower-shaped setting set with small stones, which adds sparkle and character.
