## Which diamond weight should you choose?

The carats of the diamonds measure their weight. The karats of the gold indicate
the share of pure gold in the metal. These are two different things.

For this model, each option from 1 to 10 carats corresponds to a diamond size: the
length of the bracelet does not change their diameter. The reference weight is reached
from 15 cm. With the same diameter, a longer bracelet has more stones and its total
weight increases: about one third more carats at 20 cm. The values in the table
are guidelines. The “Carats” options show the estimated weight for the length you
choose.

  | Total weight | Diamond diameter | Number of diamonds (15 to 20 cm) | Look |
   | 1 ct | ≈ 1.4 mm | ≈ 90 to 121 | A thread of light, very fine, for stacking |
 | 1.5 ct | ≈ 1.7 mm | ≈ 76 to 102 | Fine and discreet, for every day |
 | 2 ct | ≈ 1.9 mm | ≈ 69 to 93 | The delicate classic |
 | 3 ct | ≈ 2.3 mm | ≈ 58 to 78 | The most versatile, from the office to the evening |
 | 4 ct | ≈ 2.7 mm | ≈ 50 to 67 | A clearly visible sparkle |
 | 5 ct | ≈ 3 mm | ≈ 46 to 61 | Bold, it gets noticed |
 | 6 ct | ≈ 3.4 mm | ≈ 41 to 54 | Very luminous |
 | 8 ct | ≈ 3.9 mm | ≈ 36 to 48 | Spectacular, for a wedding or a party |
 | 10 ct | ≈ 4.5 mm | ≈ 31 to 42 | The largest in the collection |

## Size guide: which tennis bracelet length should you choose?

Tap the image below to enlarge it.

a snug fit, plus 1.5 cm recommended, plus 2 cm for a looser fit](https://www.simattabijoux.

Measure your wrist just above the wrist bone with a soft tape measure (or a piece
of string laid on a ruler), then add:

 * **+ 1 cm** for a snug fit, close to the wrist
 * **+ 1 to 1.5 cm** for a classic fit
 * **+ 2 cm** for a loose fit that moves more freely around the wrist.

  | Wrist size | Snug fit | Loose fit |
   | 14 cm | 15 cm | 16 cm |
 | 15 cm | 16 cm | 17 cm |
 | 16 cm | 17 cm | 18 cm |
 | 17 cm | 18 cm | 19 cm |
 | 18 cm | 19 cm | 20 cm |
 | 19 cm | 20 cm | — |

From 8 carats, the taller diamonds take up a little more room inside the bracelet:
add 0.5 cm. If in doubt, choose the next length up. For another length, [contact us](https://www.simattabijoux.com/en/contact-us/).

## Care

 * Take your bracelet off before swimming in a pool (chlorine damages gold) or the
sea, sport and sleep, and apply perfume and creams before putting it on.
 * Clean it with warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush, paying attention to the
area under the diamonds, then dry it with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive products
and ultrasonic cleaners, which can weaken the prongs.
 * Store it flat in its box, protected from knocks and separate from your other
   jewelry.
 * 14k and 18k gold keep their shine well in everyday wear. 9k gold, which contains
more other metals, may tarnish slightly over time: cleaning or polishing restores
its shine. White gold is coated with rhodium, which slowly wears off with use:
new rhodium plating at a jeweler restores its whiteness.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is a lab-grown diamond a real diamond? How is it different from a natural diamond?

Yes. A [lab-grown diamond, created in a laboratory](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthetic_diamond),
has the same composition (carbon), the same crystal structure, the same hardness(
10 on the Mohs scale) and the same refractive index (2.42) as a natural diamond.
Only its origin is different: it is created in a laboratory in a few weeks instead
of being mined. Neither the naked eye nor a jeweler’s loupe can tell them apart.
Only laboratory equipment can determine the origin.

It should not be confused with cubic zirconia or glass, used as imitations, or with
moissanite, a different stone offered in the [French Riviera Silver & Moissanite](https://www.simattabijoux.com/en/collection/moissanite-tennis-bracelet-silver/).

### Is the gold solid?

Yes: the setting, the links and the clasp are solid gold, not gold-plated silver.
White gold also receives a layer of rhodium that gives it its whiteness.

### 9k, 14k or 18k gold: which one should you choose?

The karat number indicates the share of pure gold in the metal: 37.5% for 9k gold,
58.5% for 14k gold and 75% for 18k gold, the rest being an alloy (silver, copper…)
that gives the color and strength. 18k gold is the most precious, with the richest
shades. It is the jewelry standard in France. 14k gold offers a very good balance
between shine, strength and price. 9k gold is the most affordable and may tarnish
slightly over time. Scratch resistance also depends on the composition of the alloy
and how it is made. The diamonds are identical whatever the gold karat.

### Are the diamonds certified?

For this model, the small stones (about 0.01 to 0.35 carat each) do not come with
individual certificates. The stated characteristics are D to F color, VS to VVS
clarity and an “Excellent” cut.

An IGI certificate for the whole bracelet is available as an option, for €60 and
2 extra weeks of lead time. Tick “IGI certificate for the bracelet” before adding
to cart. This overall document is different from an individual certificate for each
diamond.

### How long does it take to receive it?

The bracelet is made to order: allow 2 to 3 weeks, including delivery (2 more weeks
with an IGI certificate). The estimated date is shown before purchase for the version
you choose.

### Is there a silver version?

Yes: the [French Riviera Silver & Moissanite](https://www.simattabijoux.com/en/collection/moissanite-tennis-bracelet-silver/),
in 925 silver and D-VVS1 moissanites, from 2 to 6.5 mm wide, and the matching [Rivière d’Azur necklace](https://www.simattabijoux.com/en/collection/moissanite-tennis-necklace-silver/).
